Drug DealOn June 4, 2010 at approximately 4:00pm, members of the West Shore RCMP Street Crime Unit intercepted a “Dial-a-Dope” drug operation which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of powder cocaine, “crack” cocaine and “ecstasy” (MDMA 3,4 methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine) as well as a “Z-Force I” 80,000 volt stun gun.

Two twenty-year-old men from Colwood, British Columbia were arrested and are facing two charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, section 5.2 of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and one charge of possession of a prohibited weapon, section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Gopal Andrew SAHOTA was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court today.
David Charles BENNETT was released before a Judicial Justice of the Peace and will be appearing in court on June 24, 2010.

A “Dial-a-Dope” drug trafficking operation consists of low level drug traffickers who answer calls on cell phones provided to them by their drug supplier. The drug trafficker takes the “drug order” over the phone and then delivers the drugs to the calling “customer”.

“This type of drug trafficking activity occurs around the clock and could be happening anywhere at any time in our community” stated Cst. Julie CHANIN of West Shore RCMP, “it’s an illegal and dangerous ‘business’ which puts our community at risk and it concerns us access to any kind of illegal drug is just a phone call away”.
