On Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at approximately 7:05 a.m., a 911 call was made to West Shore RCMP advising a cyclist had been injured after crashing near the 4 Mile Pub on the Island Highway in View Royal, British Columbia.

The cyclist, who was traveling eastbound on the Island Hwy., is believed to have hit a curb while on a very narrow section of the road and was then thrown from his bicycle and struck a utility pole. The 26-year-old male cyclist from Langford, British Columbia, suffered very serious injuries as a result of the incident.  The man was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the crash.

The RCMP would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed this crash. Of particular interest is the male driver of a beige pick up truck with a light-coloured canopy who stopped immediately after the crash and left the scene after BC Ambulance Service Paramedics arrived to treat the badly injured cyclist.

Anyone who witnessed this single bicycle crash or has information about this incident is asked to call the West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
